Liquor Licenses and the Noise on Fulton Street
There were two new liquor license applications from Fort Greene and Clinton Hill businesses at last night’s Community Board 2 Health, Environment and Social Services Committee meeting.
The first was from Hanson Dry, a new cocktail bar at 925 Fulton Street, (between Clinton and Waverly Avenues). Members of the committee voiced concerns about the bar’s close proximity to three schools (PS 11, PS 56 and the Achievement First Charter School) and Brown Memorial Baptist Church, but the application was supported. Hanson Dry is slated to open late August.
The second application was from Der Schwarze Kolner at 710 Fulton Street (at Seven Corners) to serve alcohol at its new outdoor café. The application was supported, but committee members did express concerns about the increased noise level in and around that area of Fulton Street. Community Board 2 has received numerous complaints from residents about the noise level from both foot traffic and motorcycles.
